Thesis Title: Co-creating Events. An Ethnographic Study on Voluntary Workers' Knowledge in Product Development
About
I am interested in co-creation processes of tourism products, namely events and festivals. My dissertation research focuses on events as co-creational arenas where different actors practice their knowledge. Voluntary workers take part in the co-creation of the event product and are important actors and informants in producing the events’ service culture. My research asks: how can the knowledge of voluntary workers be understood in the event co-creation processes? It explores theoretically and empirically how the different forms of knowledge work and manifest during the event production. The research aims on theoretical contributing to the services marketing and event studies discussions by illustrating different forms of knowledge in the event co-creation process. Managerial contribution lies on better understanding the process of value creation based on different knowledge and this way creating more sustainable event products.
